Screencast About Virtual Writing Tutor

How to write error-free emails when you are a teacher?

Introduction

Hi! Welcome to my screencast! My name is Justine and I have been in Social Sciences, at Ahuntsic College, more specifically in the field of education, for about 3 years. In my program, my courses have a multidisciplinary approach to help future teachers to be able to share their knowledge of the world and society with their students such as geography, history and many more. Obviously, the career-related to this field of study is usually in order to become or teacher.

Like you, I don't want to be embarrassed by simple grammar mistakes that I could easily correct. Am I right?

First, I want to say that my English is not the best, but I am really motivated to improve my communication and writing skills in English.

I have been using the website Virtual Writing Tutor, for about 6 months, and it really helped me when it was time to review and correct my writing.

In this screencast, my goal is to demonstrate how to use effectively the website Virtual Writing Tutor, so you can be able to solve a problem that may happen when you are a teacher.

Follow step-by-step the tutorial and you will solve your problem easily. Also, share the screencast on social media and don't forget to click the “like” button.

Now, I will show you different tools that can be used on this website. You will be amazed by all the functions that are on the website and which are really helpful for English.

The Problem

Let me explain the problem you may have when you are a primary or a high school teacher. During the semester, it happens that a teacher must communicate, by email, with the parents of her students for many reasons as warning parents regarding the bad behaviour of their child in the class. When you are a teacher, you are expected to communicate well in your language and to have fewer errors in your writing, so it is essential to send error-free emails to the parents.

If you send an email with many grammar mistakes, the parents might not take the problem seriously, so you may lose credibility as a teacher.

Imagine that you are an English teacher, in high school, and you send an email to one of your student's parents because of his bad behaviour in class. I'm quite sure that the parents would not want to receive an email with a lot of grammar mistakes in it.

Don't worry! It exists a simple solution. Very soon, I will show you step-by-step how to solve this problem in only a few clicks.

The Quest

Now, I will present you the website called Virtual Writing Tutor, which is very helpful when you need to organize your ideas, to correct misspelling words or grammar mistakes. First, open your browser. Type Virtual Writing Tutor.com into the address bar and hit enter. You will see this page if the URL is correctly written.

In the top left corner, there is the logo of the website and in the top right corner, there are icons representing social media. Clicking on these icons will allow you to share the website with other people. At the top of screen in the middle, there is the navigation menu if you are searching for specific information or tools. In the middle of the screen, there is a text area where you can copy-paste a text and check on either the statistics, the grammar or more specifically on the content of the text. It is helpful when we want to make sure that our text is error-free or to prepare ourselves for an upcoming evaluation by selecting the structure buttons. There are a microphone and a speaker if you want to know how to pronounce a word correctly.

The Solution

Now, I will show you how to solve the problem I mentioned before by checking on possible grammar mistakes you would make as a teacher.

First, in the text area, write or copy-paste the text from the email written to the parents. For example: Dear Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, I wanted to warn you that your child have a really bad behaviour since the start of the year. He don't want to listen when i talk to him and become angry at me. I hope that you could have a conversation with Noah. Thank you and have a great day!

Then, click on the button Check Grammar. You will see the number of words and paragraphs that you have in your text.
You will see one by one each of your mistakes underlined in red.
You will also receive a feedback that will help you to understand your mistake.
The suggestions will give you the right spelling of a word or the good structure of a sentence.

After seeing all of your mistakes, you can correct them directly in the box and click again on the button Check Grammar until the moment you have an error-free text. Here is the solution for your grammar writing.

The Conclusion

So, if you plan to become a teacher, this website can be really useful when it comes to writing emails to the parents of your students.

Don't you remember? I said earlier that I will demonstrate how to solve this problem and I did it!
